ABOUT MISS STALEY: I love being an art teacher because I absolutely love art! I am a life-long learner in the arts. When I was a kid, I used to sell greeting cards because I created art all the time. Visual literacy is very important to me, and I do my best to practice being creative or experiencing art every day! I love encouraging people to be creative, search for new ideas, solve problems, and work together. I believe that art is a universal language and should be accessible to all.
I have a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Art Education from The Ohio State University. I began teaching at Etna Road Elementary in 2000 and have been teaching at Whitehall-Yearling High School since 2007. Together, our students have successfully entered contests, visited art museums and college campuses, and exhibited artwork, and I look forward to continuing to watching these amazing art students grow and do more every year. I have only one beautiful daughter, Chelsey, who graduated in 2012 and works in the health care field. She got married in 2017, and her and her husband had their baby boy in summer 2018, and baby girl in fall 2019, so I am a grandma! Now I try to make time to travel, see new art, and paint, but my dream is to become a great mural artist. The summer of 2014, I worked with an awesome to friend on a public art chalk drawing on the streets in downtown Columbus. This was only the beginning! In the summer of 2015, I shared an exhibit with my best friend in the SDot miniature online art gallery. Since then, I have found opportunities to exhibit art in Columbus, including the Fort Hayes Shot Tower gallery, 400 West Rich St. studios, the Vanderelli Room, and the Cultural Arts Center and the Commonwealth Bank in the short North. I have been honored to join the Columbus art scene. In the fall of 2018, I was featured in the Columbus Open Studio and Stage Tour, for the 2nd year in a row. |
