Creative Confirmation
I am an artist! I have my own point of view. I express my fears, ideas and dreams. I succeed by persistently solving problems and letting failure bring motivation. I tell my story by respecting studio tools and space. When I reflect on my art, I catch a glimpse of my heart. I am an artist! |
8 Studio Habits of Mind
1. ENVISION: Mentally picturing images & using imagination.
2. DEVELOP CRAFT: Learning to use tools, materials, & space. 3. EXPRESS: Being creative & expressing an idea, feeling, or personal meaning. 4. STRETCH & EXPLORE: Investigate materials and techniques playfully without a preconceived plan to take risks & learn from trial and error. 5. REFLECT: Thinking and talking with others about art work or working process, & learning to judge your own work, process and the work of others. 6. ENGAGE & PERSIST: Embracing problems & finding solutions. 7. OBSERVE: Looking carefully to see things that otherwise might not be seen. 8. UNDERSTAND ARTS COMMUNITY (INTEGRATE): Learning to interact as an artist with other artists (classrooms, local arts organizations, across the art field). |
Grading Scale GuideThis table lists the letter grade equivalents for different point ranges. The 100 point range is the school-accepted range.
Additional point ranges were calculated by dividing the point value given by the total number of points available then multiplying by 100 to get a percent value. |
Academic Conduct
- Follow the procedure for accessing missed work If student is NOT SKIPPING class than ANY request for make-up work will be granted within the current units timing for excused absences. Skipping is defined as the students leaves school (or does not come to school) with no signing out, phone call to school, etc…
- Missing Work and Make Up Policy It is your responsibility to make up work when you have an unexcused absence. A timeline for make-up work will be discussed with the teacher for excused absences. You are allowed to redo 1 selected work for an improved grade anytime before the last week of the grading period.
- Academic Integrity Each student in this course is expected to abide by the WYHS academic guidelines. Any work submitted must be the student’s own work, unless it is a partner/group project. Students are encouraged to work and study together and to discuss information and concepts covered. Should copying/cheating occur, both the student who copied/cheated work from another student and the student who gave the material to be copied/cheated will automatically receive a zero for the assignment. Should a student be caught plagiarizing, they will be dealt with individually.
- Plagiarism Policy Plagiarism is defined as representing the ideas, expressions, or materials of another without due credit; paraphrasing or condensing ideas from another person’s work without proper citation; failing to document direct quotations and paraphrases with proper citation.
- If a student plagiarizes, the work will be given a zero, you could be dropped from the course or expelled from school pending a parent and administrative conference.
- Avoid plagiarism by always citing source within a body of work and creating a properly formatted reference page. Remember to cite all sources you use so you can give him/her credit.
